Title Alert: 'The Dark Knight Rises'

I know I'm a little late posting this, but the official title for the third Christopher Nolan Batman movie has been released...and it is: The Dark Knight Rises. A little lackluster, if you ask me, I would have preferred something more along the lines of The Batman or something like that.

And on a side note, Nolan confirmed that the Riddler will NOT be a villain in this movie.

Mark Wahlberg is 'The Crow'?!

So according to a few other sites, Mr. Wahlberg has been offered the title role in the upcoming The Crow remake...

Mark Wahlberg has been offered the lead role in the remake of “The Crow”, according to Bloody Disgusting.
No surprise that Wahlberg would be offered the lead role of the mascara-adorned friend to all birds (played by the late great Brandon Lee in the 1994 film), but he hasn’t accepted the offer yet. My feeling is that the Oscar Nominated actor may consider the project a little too close to say, “Max Payne” – in that it’s another supernatural popcorn thriller about an unstoppable male protagonist – and will stick with more Kodak theater-friendly fare, like “The Fighter”.
Producer Jeff Most told Moviehole that director Stephen Norrington (“Blade”) is putting together a great “Crow” movie.
”Stephen’s a great and talented guy”, explains Most, who produced the original “Crow” film and its three sequels. ”I first met him when we were shooting “The Crow: City of Angels”. He’s an incredible stylistic visionary as a director and he totally gets comic book worlds and how to make them work on film. I’m certain that Stephen will do an amazing job with “The Crow” remake”.

'Fright Night'...Closer Than You Thought

Dreamworks has decided to release the remake of the 1985 film FRIGHT NIGHT two months earlier than planned. The Film now opens August 19th, 2011.

New 'Scream 4' Image, The Old Gang

The second "official" image from Dimension Films' Scream 4 has appeared online. Although the characters are older, this image just screams Scream 1 (pun intended!). Read the quoted text for more...

If things are awkward now for David Arquette and Courteney Cox, let's just hope they settle things come April when they have to promote their flick, Scream 4.

The publicity machine actually begins rolling out this weekend when Arquette will join Neve Campbell at the Spike TV's Scream Awards on Saturday...

Only we have the above exclusive shot from Scream 4. Separated or not, we're still looking forward to the return of the ghostface killer.

Boyle To Direct '28 Months Later'

Here's some pretty interesting news concerning the second sequel to 28 Days Later...

Danny Boyle wants to hang with some less-lively folks. Again.

The filmmaker, who recently completed the promising-looking "127 Hours", is said to be keen on directing a second sequel to zombie epic "28 Days Later".

Dread Central reports, "for those wondering, this news has come from Boyle himself. The director indicated to a good friend of our site that "there's another 28 Days Later in the works." When asked if the title would be 28 Months Later, Boyle replied "In theory, yes." Immediately the next question was if he'd be producing, to which Boyle responded, "Actually I want to direct it." There you have it, kids. From the horse's mouth."

I don't believe we've heard anything on the third "28 days" movie since late 2008 - see below :

Previously...

Seems Danny Boyle was - excuse the pun - dead serious when he said he'd like to do a sequel (well, it'd be the second sequel; but as Boyle didn't helm the first sequel, this'd be his first) to "28 Days Later" and "Trainspotting". Though he's mentioned both projects in a 'Maybe if I get time, I'll do them one day' sense previously, his interest in both seems to have increased in recent weeks.

The British filmmaker, out spruiking his acclaimed new pic "Slumdog Millionaire" (which I've yet to catch), tells Australia's The Herald Sun that he's got a wild idea for a second "28 Days" follow-up and it'd be up to Twentieth Century Fox and whether or not it gets made.

The new film would probably set in Russia.

"I have an idea for that but it's a very, very weird idea and I don't know whether it would fulfill all the things you have to fulfill for a franchise", says Boyle. "But you can be sure you won't say : 'Oh, it's just a sequel'.

Boyle says he's also officially developing the oft-rumoured sequel to "Trainspotting", the curiously-titled "Porno".

Boyle says of the film, which would take place years after the original film, "It would concentrate on them being middle-aged and having left behind all the party times. It'd be very different. As they confront middle aged... could be very boring really!".

'Spider-Man' Cast Gets Confirmed

So the ball is beginning to roll on the Spider-Man reboot. Emma Stone has officially been confirmed for the role of Mary Jane. And here we go...

It was recently announced that Emma Stone of Superbad & fame (who can also currently be seen in Easy A), has been cast in the role of Gwen Stacy in the new Spider-Man reboot. Stone will play alongside newcomer Andrew Garfield (The Social Network), who fills the shoe's of Peter Parker. True to the comics, Stone will be sporting blond hair for the role, as opposed to her usual red. Some may be asking, "What about Mary Jane?", and this is exactly why I am excited about this film. We can glean quite a bit about the plot of the film simply because the leading female character is Gwen Stacy!

Renee Zellweger In 'The Hangover 2'?

The rumor mill is spinning...and this time, Renee Zellweger is the topic. Could she be joining the cast of The Hangover 2? Read on for the skinny...

Renee Zellweger is said to be in talks for a role in "The Hangover 2’’. Should Bridget Jones decide to book a date with the boozing wild boys, she’d be reunited with her ''Case'' 39 co-star (and real-life boyfriend) Bradley Cooper.

"Renee loves the first movie and this just gives her and Brad a reason to hang out together on set. The funny thing is Renee looks like playing a girl the guys meet and one of them has a one-night-stand with her - only it's not Brad''s character!" a source tells MSN News.

Hmmm... take it with a grain of salt.

In more credible news, Empire Magazine spoke to writer/director Todd Phillips who says the film will see the crazy quartet headed to Bangkok.

"It takes place in Bangkok and LA," Phillips told Empire. "There's gonna be some fucked-up surprises. The entire cast – Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifinakis, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha – are back. "The three guys are back," Phillips said. "Mr. Chow's back too”, he adds, referring to the character played by medical practitioner cum actor Ken Jeong.

Emma Stone Offered 'Spider-Man' Role

Emma Stone has been offered a role in the Spider-Man reboot...probably Mary Jane. Here's what Moviehole had...

Update! According to Deadline, Emma Stone is - not suprisingly - to be offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in director Marc Webb's "Spider-Man". Considering her relationship with the studio, and the fact that they've helped carve out a nice career for her, it's likely Stone will say yes to Sony. That leaves "Glee" star Dianna Agron, Australia's Mia Wasikowska, Georgina Haig and Dominique McElligott to battle it out for the film's other coveted female role, Gwen Stacy. We should have some official announcements this week.

Previously...

I adore Emma Stone. But those of you who heard the podcast a couple of weeks ago, in which Ms Stone appeared, know that. I think I got her blushing - not that I could see her over the phone. Haven't got one of those "Back to the Future 2" contraptions installed in the office just yet. She's a delightful girl. Really sweet. But she's also super-talented.... in comedies. I think she's a wonderful young comedienne - a bit Gilda Radner, a bit (and I say this affectionately) Amanda Bynes.

Saying that, I don't think Emma Stone should pursue the female lead in Sony's "Spider-Man" reboot. She's too good for that.

It's not surprising that the shingle are said to be courting Stone for the role - they love her, she's starred in some of their biggest 'young people's' hits over the past couple of years ("Superbad", "Zombieland", "Easy A") but more so, she's on the verge of becoming a big, big star.

I think she'd be wasted in a film like "Spider-Man". You see, that film is going to eat up so much of her young life... years... that she'll be 30 before she gets to do anything else. But also, does she really want to be known as Mary-Jane Watson or Gwen Stacey (nobody knows who the lead female character is yet) for the rest of her career? In some respects, that's what's happened to Kirsten Dunst. Despite giving us some great performances before and after the "Spider-Man" series, Dunst will seemingly be forever listed as "Spider-Man star Kirsten Dunst". There's too many other good opportunities out there for Stone to grab. She don't need no stinkin' franchise.

According to EW, Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland") is also up for the same role. Now that, I don't mind so much. I like the girl. She's sweet. Talented too. But her star's not shining as brightly as Stone's is at the moment.

Another Sony flick that Stone is being courted for is "21 Jump Street". That's the big screen adaptation of the ol' Johnny Depp series, with Jonah Hill writing and starring. Hill, of course, starred alongside Stone in "Superbad" so assumingly it was his idea to try and get Stone onboard this one. I don't mind this idea so much. I think it might make better use of Stone's comedic talents. She also seemed to have good chemistry with Hill in "Superbad". More so, I've read the "21 Jump Street" script and it's surprisingly good. Slick. Fun. Lots of action. A bit of a "Zombieland"-feel to it, if you will.

"Spider-Man" is out 2012. In 3D. No less.

'Batman 3' Starting To Buzz

It's that time again: Christopher Nolan is gearing up for a third (and final) Batman movie. Read the yellow text below for all of Moviehole's Bat-goodness...

The codpiece is out in full force this weekend (hee hee).

"Batman 3" is as sure-a-thing as it will ever be. Christopher Nolan says he will likely/in-all-probability/possibly/ be back. All the cast are back (Christian Bale has been spotted training already). Catwoman is rumored to be making a jump for Bruce's scratching pole in the film. The Riddler is the big question. Oh, and Edward Norton wants a role.

Michael Caine tells The National Ledger that "Batman 3" starts filming in May of next year.

"There will be a new Batman. It will probably start in May next year. I assume I'm there, but in the movie business you never believe anything, you assume. But I've been in the last four Chris Nolan pictures, he's my lucky charm. I did 'Prestige', and recently 'Inception', I'm hoping to do another one. He's written the new one."

Caine said Nolan won't tell anyone who the villain in the film is.

"No one will tell you. Chris is the most secretive man in the world. The first time when he asked me to do 'Batman Begins', I played a butler, he came to my house on a Sunday morning, he had the script. He went and said, 'Can you read it now,' so I read it and said, 'It's fantastic, I'll do it' so I went to put the script in my office and he said, 'No, I want it back.'

"He waited until I finished reading, had a cup of tea with my missus and then took the script away again in case someone saw it. Actors are such silly sods they don't know what they're doing half the time."

Oh, and yeah, Nolan is directing the film (not that we ever thought he wouldn't).

The filmmaker told Empire Online "It’s [directing B3] becoming inevitable, I’ll put it that way. I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I’m pretty excited about what we’re doing. I think that people probably all know at this point that I’m doing it....I think you can [assuming I'm directing] at this point, yes."

Secondly, remember the pics showing the Batmobile on the set of the Russell Brand starring "Arthur"? London Insider got to the bottom of the when's and how's of the batmobile's (and Batman & Robin's) big appearance in the movie!

Says the site, "Police cruisers chase the Batmobile through New York – he hits the bronze bull statue in the rear (two big bronze balls hit the bonnet and roll away), he smashes into the Federal Reserve Building, and makes a nuisance of himself down Wall Street – until they surround him, blazing him in white light. One of the older cops flashes his light into the Batmobile window. In there, he sees Batman – well rather, Russell Brand’s Arthur in a rented Batman costume. The ‘Drunk Knight’ (as he is called) is ordered out of the car, to which he replies “This one has no doors, so I’d have to squeeze out the back arsehole”. The cops get a good laugh out of Arthur when he steps out of the car because his utility belt features a red stapler, a flask, firework and shot glasses. The cops then realize there’s a second person in the Batmobile..." and it goes on; there's more at the site.
