Scott Z. Burns To Write Next 'Planet Of The Apes' Sequel

The wheels of the next Planet of the Apes sequel are beginning to steadily roll.  Writer Scott Z. Burns has been tapped to rewrite the script for the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which was originally being written by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa.
While someone else gets the privilege of sequelizing his “Contagion”, writer Scott Z.Burns will be hard at work on the next instalment in the “Planet of the Apes” series, says THR. After “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” scored big at the box office last year, Fox immediately signed director Rupert Wyatt and ‘Ape’ star Andy Serkis to a sequel. “Apes” scribes Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa were also retained, but seems the draft they wrote wasn’t what Fox were looking for in a sequel. Burns, whose other credits include Matt Damon movies’ “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “The Informant!”, has been assigned the task of telling the tale of how the apes became to rule society – hinted at the end of the last movie.

TV Review: 'The Legend Of Korra' Episode 6

Time to see if this episode is better than the previous episode.

The Fire Ferrets are preparing for their championship pro-bending game against the Wolfbats and Amon has plans of his own: cancel the game or he will retaliate against the city.  Tenzin and to the Fire Ferret's surprise Tarrlok are in favor of Amon's demands so that no one will be hurt but to everyone's surprise, Lin is against Amon's demands and even challenges Tarrlok in saying that he should also be the one to be against it.  Tarrlok reconsiders and changes and his mind.  The game continues on as is with Lin offering her duties to protect the game and Tenzin, despite being against the ordeal, helps out Lin.

Korra, being the nosey person she is, dusts off some info from Tenzin and finds out that Lin and Tenzin were romantically involved a while back.  Despite this, Tenzin and Lin work together "like old times."

During the game, the Wolfbats use some dirty tactics and the Fire Ferrets also come to the conclusion that the Wolfbats had paid the refs to call the game.  The Ferrets decide to win the game fair and square but that doesn't go as well as planned.  Amon attacks the game and destabilizes the metalbender police, Tenzin and even take the Wolfbats bending abilities away, fulfilling his promise that he would attack the city.  Republic City is now in the brink of war by the Equalists.

This episode was way better than the previous episode.  They go back to the Equalist story line and it pays off dividends.  There was a little touch of the romance between Mako, Asami and Korra but nothing to distract us from the real story which was a real plus.  I have nothing against the love triangle. I'm just saying that we should leave that story for later episodes (at least in my opinion).

The action was animated and filmed well as usual and there is even one instance where an action shot was played twice but in a different angle.  That was pretty awesome!

A very enjoyable episode to a good series.  Faith in the series has been restored.

Next week -- episode 7!

'Kick-Ass 2' Soon To Be A Reality

Finally.  Things are finally starting to move on the sequel to 2010's Kick-Ass, starring Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Red Mist).  All three are rumored to be returning -- which is absolutely fantastic!
Kick-Ass 2 is close to being a reality. Universal is in talks with Matthew Vaughn to make and distribute Kick-Ass 2, the sequel to the 2010 cult hit movie based on the Mark Millar-John Romita Jr. comic-book miniseries. Vaughn directed, produced and self-financed the action movie, which was distributed by Lionsgate and grossed $96 million worldwide on a budget of $30 million. He is only producing the sequel, but has handpicked Jeff Wadlow, who helmed 2008’s Never Back Down, to direct. Vaughn wrote the script for the project, which adapts not only Kick-Ass 2, the recent comic miniseries, but also the spinoff Hit-Girl, which is due in stores next month. The Hit-Girl storyline will be the first act of the movie, according to sources. The actors whose characters survived the bloody ending of the first movie are expected to return, including Aaron Johnson (who played Kick-Ass), Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Red Mist). Dealmaking should begin soon as the film is eying a September start. This isn’t the first time Universal has come in to make and distribute a sequel of a comic-book movie whose first installment was released by another company. In 2008, the studio released Hellboy II: The Golden Army and after the first movie, Hellboy, came from Revolution and Sony.

'10 Things I Hate About You' Sequel In The Works

You ever hear about a sequel and think, "How in the hell are they going to make another one of those?"  Well, this is one of those times for me.  A sequel to 10 Things I Hate About You, currently titled 10 Things I Hate About Life is in the works.
Hayley Atwell ("Captain America") will star in romantic comedy "10 Things I Hate About Life" for Intandem Films and Andrew Lazar's Mad Chance Prods. Gil Junger is onboard to direct from his own script -- which he describes as a story that advances the situations from the original "10 Things I Hate About You," based on Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" and starring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Mad Chance also produced the Disney-released "Hate About You," which grossed $38 million. Junger told Variety that the pic's remained popular enough that he made more in residuals from it last year than he received for directing it in 1999. He said he was inspired to write the new script after coming across a man who had committed suicide at a scenic overlook. "It is the story of two relatable, ordinary people with normal jobs and normal desires whose seemingly great lives have become unmanageable," he said. "Two people who go to the same place at the same time to end it. … Their chance meeting is so awkward, so raw, and so funny, they postpone their intentions and go their separate ways."
From the short synopsis above, you can some what gather that this will be more of a spin-off than a straight-up sequel.  Good choice.

'The World's End' Has A Release Date

Oh, joy... it's finally here!  A release date for the much anticipated return of the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy!

Working Title is teaming up with studio Universal and plan to start filming this September for a Spring 2013 release!

Here is the juice:

“20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.”

Sounds pretty good to me!  The lads have been pretty busy with other projects including Pegg staring in the Star Trek sequel and Wright co-writing and directing Ant-Man but it seems that The World's End may be in the forefront for the trio.  No complaints here!

What do you think of this exciting news?  (oh.. sorry about all of the exclamation points.. I'm just TOO EXCITED!  Yeah, I yelled that!)

Cole Hauser To Be A Villain In 'A Good Day To Die Hard'

A Good Die To Die Hard is gearing up with a few villains to give John McClane fits.  First, a couple of international actors got the job in Sebastian Koch and Russian actress Yulia Snigir and now reports suggest that Cole Hauser has landed a villain role as well.

The fifth Die Hard film will see Bruce Willis return to his iconic role, this time in Russia to save his son (played by Jai Courtney).

Cole Hauser has played in films with Bruce Willis before in Hart's War and Tears of the Sun so it should be interesting to see Cole Hauser play a villain which is something we haven't seen before.  He should be a better villain than the one Timothy Olyphant played in Live Free or Die Hard which was a bit of a lackluster type villain.

So, are you excited to see Cole Hauser as a villain?

Rebecca Hall In Talks For A Role In 'Iron Man 3'

Now that Jessica Chastain is officially out of the running for a role in Shane Black's Iron Man 3, a new actress is now in the running.  Rebecca Hall is in talks to play Maya, who is a scientist that helps in developing a nanotechnology called Extremis. When it's stolen, Maya asks Tony Stark for help to find the culprit and stop them before it's too late.

Hall is best known for her work in The Prestige, Frost/Nixon, The Town and Vicky Christina Barcelona

Iron Man 3's production will start later this month.

What do you think of this possible casting choice?

Park Chan-Wook Gives His Blessing For Spike Lee's Remake Of 'Oldboy'

If Park has given his blessing, then he knows that it will stay true to the original and I am VERY happy for that.

Josh Brolin was the one to mention the blessing during a press junket for Men In Black 3.  He did confirm that Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley are going to be in the film.

Here is Brolin's quote:

Oldboy? Literally you say Oldboy and my stomach just goes Grrrrrr [mimics twisting and turning]. Oldboy will be an experience, man. It wont be like Men In Black, I’ll tell you that much. I’m really happy about it. We’ve gotten amazing actors: Liz Olsen, who I think is fantastic and we also got Sharlto Copley from District 9 who I think is going to be unbelievable. He just wrote me an e-mail and was like, ‘Look, I’ve got to get this out of the way. Dude, Goonies is my favorite film of all time,’ which I thought was really sweet. And now I’m going to make 20 years of your life miserable.
Josh Brolin talked about how much of a fan he was of the original work.
I love Oldboy and I’m close with Chan-wook Park and I emailed him a couple months ago, just asking for his blessing to do this movie because if he had said ‘No,’ I wouldn’t have done it. But I really respect his movie and we’ll make a little different movie and this whole idea of a more Hollywood version of it? Whatever. We’re just going to make a different version but have respect to the initial story and premise. I’m looking forward to it, man. I’m talking about it nervously right now because it makes me nervous.
He was also asked about the two most famous scenes in the film.

Yes, by the way. Yes. And it’s a hammer and knife and all that stuff. And then will we keep the octopus, will we keep the other stuff? There’s some changes but I think it’s really good. It still makes me throw down the script half way through. Whoa.
It's cool that Brolin is a fan of the work and Brolin, being a very good actor, will translate that passion for the original in his performance.

I am still skeptical about the film but this makes me more excited than I was previously and while I am also skeptical about Spike Lee directing the film, this news makes me a little bit more comfortable about him directing.

Jessica Chastain Will NOT Be In 'Iron Man 3'

Despite reports that Jessica Chastain was going to be in Iron Man 3, there is now official word from the actress herself that she will NOT be in the film.

On her facebook page she said:

"Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn't going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can't fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I'm so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there'll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I'm very excited to see the film when it comes out. xx"

Her extremely busy schedule forced her to drop out.  She is going to star in Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty.  She's also starring in the two-part relationship drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: His and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers, which also stars opposite Joel Edgerton.  Along with other projects, she just couldn't fit in Iron Man 3.

Isla Fisher, Diane Kruger and Gemma Arterton were up for the role that Jessica Chastain won but now that she is out, it's safe to say they will be back in the running.

Are you sad that she will not be in Iron Man 3?

Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' To Be Rated R

Though it easily could've have gotten the PG-13 rating (with PG-13 films usally making more money) Fox has confirmed that Prometheus will in fact be rated R!  Prometheus will be rated R "for sci-fi violence, including some intense images, and brief language."

Collider has gotten confirmation on the news via a ticket stub someone pre-ordered for the film.

Even though it would have meant more money at the box office, it looks as if Ridley Scott's true vision for this film will most likely shine through.  This is good news!  I hope this film makes a lot of money!

What do you think?  Is this good news for Prometheus?
